From Good to Great

Last month, a friend gave me a business book for my birthday called, “Good to Great” by Jim Collins. When I opened the gift, I chuckled to myself b/c that’s exactly what I’d been telling myself for the past year…good is no longer good enough for me, it’s time to be great!

So here I am going through another transformation and it’s really stretching me in a great way. Since good stopped being been good enough, I’ve been working diligently towards being my best in every way. It’s not always easy, but it’s the challenge that’s making me better. When I think about it, my life is always progressing and I also attribute that to my habits…

I stopped watching TV over 15 years ago at age 20 and started meditating. I’m a reader, thinker, and researcher. I explore and maintain high levels of consciousness through daily meditation. I eat healthy, drink lots of water, and exercise regularly. I get plenty rest, and practice my spiritual disciplines daily. I surround myself with positive, loving and supportive people, and I’m sure to play and have fun every single day. I dance, laugh, and express ALL of myself freely. I invest my time, I don’t spend it on nothingness. I guard my gates from negative people, music, images, environments, and words. I practice joy and loving kindness, and I use my life and business to help make the world a more peaceful and loving place.

I live my life this way b/c I’m working towards greatness in EVERY aspect of my life and I have no tolerance for anything that opposes this. I’m focused and I owe it to meditation and my relationship with myself and the metaphysical. I’ve been good for a long time now and have become great in some regards, but good just isn’t good enough anymore.

I’m not concerned with being ‘the’ best b/c, this isn’t about anyone else. I just want to be MY best and so I give myself what I need in order to function at the level of greatness that I see for myself. Why settle for good when you can be great?

“Good is the enemy of great.” -Jim Collins
